Understanding ELA Instruction

1.   Who is responsible for which portion of the Standards?  Describe  your understanding of the 5 essentail components/Key Features of the Standards,  Reading:   http://www.showme.com/sh/?i =   38235  (scope and sequence, leveled books, appropriate ebooks, “new literacies”) When is comes to the Reading portion of the Common Core standards grade 6-12, the teacher is responsible for covering two content area-specific sections which is English Language Arts and History/Social Studies, Science, and technical subjects. Each section follows the same Common Core Readiness Anchor Standards but grade specific standards are included. On the other hands, grades K-5 list standards for reading, writing, listening, and language across the curriculum and reflecting that most of the instruction comes from one teacher. Common Core Standards video response understanding

Watch   Common Core for ELA and Literacy video   and discuss your understanding of Common Core (one good paragraph).            The Common Core is a set of standards that is used as a guide for students to achieve in core subjects that meets their expectations. The Common Core standards in the past varied from state to state and later became a problem when the “No Child Behind” law held states accountable for their student’s education and if their expectations were met. When these same students would transfer to schools that were located in another state, some students had to take remedial courses because they were below that state’s expectations. The Common Core is broken into four categories: reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language with a scaffolding of college and career readiness anchor standards defining what kids should know and be ready to become successful in college and on the job.
